We have been asking for weeks, and the cold is finally here! With changing leaves and added layers, we can’t wait to start rolling out the endless winter hair possibilities. From color to caps, we are bringing you our three favorite trends for this winter wonderland.

1. The Turban

Obviously this isn’t a new trend, but we are swooning over the chic turban look. From full head wraps to simple head bands, wrapping up your locks is the perfect way to add class to any look. Add a pair of oversized sunglasses and you are ready to rock it!

2. The Brimmed Hat

If you have not yet seen these hats out and about then we suggest you come shopping with us! The brimmed hat is happening and we hope it’s here to stay. From fedoras to wide-brims, we use these to cover up a not so perfect hair day and protect ourselves from that good old Texas wind.

3. The Merlot

Hello adventurous gals, we are talking to you with this winter trend! It’s being deemed the merlot, and the color is just as tasty as the wine. Lauren Takes On The Unite Academy

This past weekend our lovely apprentice, Lauren, packed her bags and headed to California for a Unite Academy training session! We sat down to get all the good details of her adventures to the sunny state.

1. Tell Me About Your Trip:

A few months ago I was approached by Emma, where she presented me with the opportunity to travel to California and attend this round of Unite classes. It was taught by Nine Zero One Salon Academy at the Unite Headquarters in California. It was three classes rolled into one and laid out over two days, making it was very comprehensive, exciting and informative. The topic was all things related to beach hair, including cuts, color, style and braids.

2. What Was One Thing You Learned:

They had some great information on color formulation. This is a topic I’ve been eager to learn more about and I was really excited to gain knowledge on.

3. Tell Me Some Highlights Of The Classes:

It was great being able to do so much hands on work and was nice that the classes were so jammed packed with information. I also really enjoyed getting to meet hairstylists from all around the country.

4. What Techniques Did You Learn That You Can Use In The Salon Today?

I feel like everything was applicable to bring back to the chair. From the balyage application to the braid style outs, everything was tailored for actual use in the salon as opposed to avant guard style.

5. Is There Anything Else You Would Like To Add?

Overall it was an incredibly inspiring and educational experience. From getting to see the warehouse to where they do their photo shoots to getting to meet the Unite team. Going behind the scenes was really great. The Nine Zero One Salon Academy staff was also incredible. I enjoyed getting to learn from such a professional and talented group of people.

The Three Day Curl

In today’s glam world we completely understand the problems that occur from being busy. Between work, a personal life, and wearing those 6 inch heels us glam girls hardly have time to keep our primping up to par! At Sirens we are all about making you look fabulous and having the look be attainable in your every-day life. And our recent visit from Unite Hair Care educator, David Fletcher, left us feeling empowered to do just that!

We took his advice and changed our outlook on a product we already so dearly loved. The result… three day curls!

Blow & Set is a product you will usually find us combing through wet hair to give your locks style memory and shine. Fletcher mesmerized us when taking the product and working it through dry hair. A simple blow to smooth over the product infused hair and a piece-by-piece curl with a flat iron will leave you with waves for days. Literally!

From Girly To Glam

We recently had the opportunity to rock another Todd White photo shoot, something we love to do oh so very much! Lauren and Raven transformed this theater major into a vintage Hollywood beauty in a matter of hours.

A simple coat of Unite BOOSTA Spray, a volumizing tonic, and a spritz of blow-n-set took her locks from curly to straight. To create the illusion of finger waves, we used a curling iron throughout her entire head and finished by setting the curls at the front of her head.

We took a romantic approach for her makeup. Staying pink on the cheeks and contrasting with a deep, dark eye. We highlighted her eye with a gold tone, and added the perfect final pop with a burgundy lip.

Stylist DIY

Call us Martha Stewart… we are going DIY at the salon today! When looking for a way to spruce up your place on a budget we go with the only reasonable options. Glitter!

Here are a few simple steps to turning drab letters into fab:

1. Spray adhesive glue to the existing letters.

2. Place letters in a box to keep glitter contained while pouring a thick layer over each letter.

3. Dump excess glitter of letter and let dry for 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Spray a thin coat of hair spray over letters to keep glitter from falling.

Yes, of course our secret weapon is something found right in our salon! Though we don’t always use our very best hair spray on glitter projects, all price ranges will do, and it’s sure to keep your glistening letters in tact like never before!

Health And Beauty Go Hand-In-Hand: Le Studio

At Sirens Salon we believe that beauty it something you find on the inside just as well as on the outside. This week we paired with a local gym we hold close to our hearts to give you an inside look on why they feel the same.

Sitting down with Abel Sanchez from Le Studio, it is clear he is full of passion for working out and being in shape. Abel’s inspiration is sparked by the transformation of his own past.

“When I was in high school I wasn’t healthy,” Abel said. “I wanted to make the change from band to cheerleading but I looked at myself and knew I couldn’t be a cheerleader like that.”

He pushed himself to lose weight, started eating healthy, and saw results. With a new found confidence and outlook on his physique Abel was able to shed his shy personality. The respect he now has for treating himself right helped lead to his dream of helping others. After working with various cheerleading and dance teams across Texas and New York he chose to reside in Austin, where the dream of Le Studio became a reality.

Le Studio’s goal being to create a place of encouragement and good health, it is clear this is not your average gym. Going to a class for the first time means being met by an instant family. You are encouraged by the members, new and old, and feel the ability to be great from the start.

“I think the comradery between everyone is what makes this gym work,” Abel said.

With a 90-day challenge and life style coaching, Le Studio has made it possible for one of our own, Karla, to see herself as the same beautiful and powerful woman we do. We believe in the staff and their ability to show others a new outlook on beauty and life.
